The impact crater from the asteroid that struck the Yucatan Peninsula 65 million years ago (Ma). The expanded image exaggerates the topography of a circular trough denoted in red. This trough is only about 3 to 5 meters deep by about 5 kilometers wide and demarcates the crater's outer boundary.
