Transfer RNA is a family of double-stranded ribonucleic acids. During the translation of mRNA into protein, tRNA molecules bring amino acids to the ribosome to add to the growing polypeptide chain. At the 3′ end of the tRNA is the attachment site for the amino acid. The anticodon, located at about the midpoint of the tRNA molecule, pairs with a complementary codon in the mRNA. [1.7 MB]
